Johnny Depp
Happy Birthday to an awesome and crazily talented actor & musician, John Christopher Depp II. :D
What can I say or write about our Johnny that you don't already know? He is an idol for millions of fans, but not just because of his looks, no. Most fans love him because of what magic he can do with his acting skills. Johnny can make us believe that what we see on the big screen is real. He can transform our world into what he wants it to be for that one and a half hour. His face, his voice, his gestures are crazily funny or heavy, he can walk on that narrow path what we call Life or Death. When he acts it is like a huge challenge. He calls us out and plays with us, not just for us.
I first saw Johnny in 'Cry-Baby'. It was the funniest, coolest movie back then and I did fall in love with 'Wade Walker' - the hottest, singing & guitar playing rebel from the 1950s! :D Then came the other heartbreaker: Tim Burton's 'Edward Scissorhands'. I liked Johnny even more. He was kind, shy, cool, mysterious, romantic, dark and funny again. He got me with his secret weapon: being extremely sexy and pretending not to be aware of it. Hilarious. Beyond words. Natural born entertainer. 'Benny & Joon' gave me the punch in the heart with their love story. Amazingly incredible. Huge hit. Then I saw 'Don Juan De Marco' which was not just sensual but too funny to bear. Johnny nailed it. Then something very actual at my early experiencing days - 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas'. No words needed if you saw it, you must see it - if you haven't. ;)
'Jack Sparrow'. Legend. Icon. Cult. :D XD Way too funny! Johnny created a figure, a style, a method to give birth to our 'inner-drunk' selfie. :D XD
Johnny has an inspirational fella - Tim Burton. What they film together is always great! Hands down, it is. I can't imagine cinema today without the stepping stones like: 'Sleepy Hollow' or 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' or 'Corpse Bride' /my personal favorite - because of memories/ or 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street' or 'Alice in Wonderland' or 'Dark Shadows'. We need these movies to grow old happily. :)
I respect Johnny because of what he has already given to me through his films and I love him because of how kind and encouraging he was when I wrote my first fan letter to him and he answered and sent me a signed photo. I still have it as one of the best memories from my teenage years. One day I want to return the favor. ;)
See you sooner - scooter ;)
